As the central organization of the sector, the National Film Institute (NFI) oversees the entire Hungarian moving image industry. Through its wide-ranging activities, NFI’s primary objective is the comprehensive development of the sector. NFI is committed to enhancing the visibility and recognition of the Hungarian audiovisual industry and its works, both domestically and internationally.
In addition to operating the Direct Film Support Scheme, NFI provides a broad range of services: NFI Studios, a high-end soundstage complex; NFI Filmlab, a unique post-prod facility offering a full range of analog services; and the Location Office, which ensures the administration of shooting permits.
NFI Training Program helps safeguard the industry’s continued success by addressing workforce shortages, offering practice-oriented workshops, lectures, and career orientation events. NFI is also dedicated to supporting the industry in achieving its sustainability goals. To this end, it operates a Green Film Production Working Group and offers a Green Incentive
